Art Direction, Design and Production of Handbag Merchandise and Retail Experience 2015
Longchamp commissioned Sarah Morris to design a line of handbags to celebrate the anniversary of their top-selling Le Pliage tote. A total of three handbags were designed: One bag with a range of colors featuring the artist's signature palette; A custom, but mass produced bag “Le Eclipse” to feature two versions of a painting incorporated onto slightly altered dimensions; and a Limited Edition handbag designed into a leather square that would be sold in an edition of 125.
Longchamp wanted to pursue the idea of releasing the bags via a Pop Up shop campaign using an existing store in Paris on Rue Saint-Honoré. The shop interior as well as its display windows were redesigned to promote the clean, minimalist look of the bags as well as promote Sarah’s image as an artist.
